Diary - Week 8 (25-28 Feb)

This is the final week of the Industrial Training in the Night Electronic's company. In this week, there were not much job need to be attend as the management gave us some 'break-time' after finishing the project in UPM that took us a whole month to operate from morning until late in the evening focused on the project. Nevertheless, the final check need to be performed thoroughly for all installed PC. This is really important to avoid inaccurate data and synchronicity of the PC's bar-code and the name of users. There were several users reported that the speaker was not functioning properly. After several thorough check up made, yes the report was relevant. We did a report to the vendor and they said that an external speaker will be provided for every PC given as the problems were caused by their internal people. This was a good experience for us to build a good communication and act as a middleman from both parties. In the last day of working, we were celebrated with small reception by all the staff in the company. There are both knowledge and experienced were gained through doing the job in the company.

Diary - Week 7 (18-22 Feb)

This is the forth week of doing project in UPM. As recorded, there were still 35 percents of PC's waiting for distribution. We need to finalize which area are still not receiving the PC. The whole team was combine as one big team to fasten the distribution process. The most thing that caused delay in distribution process was the absent of customers. As the alternative, we have asked the key-holder person to open the rooms for installation process. At first there were some sort of problems to get permission to enter the room, but it all were solved in a good manner. So, the delay was avoided although we still need to catch up with the time. As the last process, all names of receivers (users) and the products bar code need to be scanned and enter to the system for record purpose. This was the most important part and a single error can caused a big problems for future references. This process was handled by the senior staff for that purpose.

Diary - Week 6 (11-15 Feb)

The distribution of the PC was took place in this third week of the project in UPM. There are several faculties there in the university area. We were divided into two groups in order to settle the distribution of the PC faster. The venue of distribution including lecture rooms, IT laboratory, personal lecturer rooms and students hall. The distance of each venue is quite far from one another. We were asked to update and reported every travel that we've made to transfer the item by personal car for claim purpose. The details need to be fill up in the company's registration system that can be viewed through the company's website.  Indeed, the whole week was really tiring. Some problems appear in sudden while we were expected that the area was completed with the distribution and testing by the user. There are several PC's that cannot be started either caused by software crashed or internal hardware problems. We need to attend the problems in quick way to avoid delays. Other than that, when there are a lot of peoples involve in a project, there will be some head that are not like-minded and appears to be problems to get their cooperation. As overall, this was the most challenging week in doing the project in UPM.

The project in UPM is continued after the items were safely dropped on the several places according to the plan. We were then learned on how to configure the parts of the PC, what software need to be install, how to synchronize the PC domain name, and others. Apart from that, we were established a communication with different people that act as middleman for distribution and permission to drop the PC in some places process. It is important in order to avoid any problems from occur during the distribution including misplaced the items. In this week, we were much focus on installing the software and prepared all PC before distribute them to the users. For the record, the items that came along with the PC are including Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Keyboard, Mouse, Screen, Single-Key Locker and RJ45 LAN Cable. It tooks about 10 to 20 minutes to prepare a single computer for distribution, complete with software and hardware.

The learning was continued on the repairing broken printers submitted and collected from the customers office. There are variety of printers types including Epson, HP and Canon. Each of them has different capabilities and the way to attend the problems is also differ from one another. One of the senior staff, Encik Nazrul, is never withhold with his knowledge. We are asked to do the checking process by our own with his guide. It is important to determine which part is broken and the next process of replacing the specific item will be easy. Other than that, there are several more job are being distributed to us. It came from the regular clients that have already signed up a specific years of contract with the company. The first job is at Job Malaysia Center located in Kelana Jaya. They reported that their very own printer is not working well and will need us to check the problem. Next location is at Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) with similar problems, nonfunctional printers. Besides getting the valuable experience in repairing the broken printers, we also got the ideas on how to interact with effective two ways communication with the customers.
